Tallyho Kennels is a
small breeding
kennel as well as a
boarding kennel in
Upstate South
Carolina. We have
been breeding and
exhibiting dogs
since 1968. We have
bred and exhibited
Harriers since 1982
including many
champions and
winning Best of
Breed 4 times at
Westminster Kennel
Club.
After many years of
admiring the beauty
and intelligence of
the Standard Poodle,
we acquired our
first Standard from
Lyndale Kennels and
we were hooked. He
was Ch. Lyndale Bare
Necessities. He was
the sire of our
Quentin. Since then
we have added Ch.
Kaylens I Believe I
Can Fly, Littlann’s
Jail Bait and
Tallyho Dacun’s
Aviatrix. We are
still impressed with
their intelligence,
humor and wonderful
dispositions.
At Tallyho Kennels,
we are firm
believers in doing
all the testing that
is available for our
breed, which
includes OFA hip
x-rays, Cerf eye
exams, DNA for Von
Will brands (a
bleeding disorder),
skin biopsies for
Sebaceous Adenitis
and Thyroid testing.
All dogs that we use
for breed have their
CHIC (Canine Health
Information Center)
number. Standard
Poodles are a breed
with many health
problems, and not
all, including
Addison’s Disease,
have testing
available at this
point. We research
pedigrees carefully
to try to lessen the
chances of these
diseases happening
in our puppies, but
there is no way to
be 100% sure.
All our Poodles are
house dogs, raised
with a handicapped
child and cats. We
look forward to
